gvim is iconized (resp. send to the background) with
CTRL-Z
so for me it is useful to start it with
CTRL-ALT-Z
which is easily configured from the properties menu of a windows shortcut pointing to gvim.exe using the right mouse button.
Since the last command brings gvim into the foreground if it has already been started, the above 2 control-commands toggle between another application and gvim very fast.
